If you are a college student than you know one thing is for sure: money is very tight these days. As a college age kid you probably don’t have a job and there aren’t a lot of ways to increase your income while you are going to school full time. The truth of the matter is that these software cost money because these big companies are paying their people a lot of money to research and develop it. With open source software there are a number of people who are working on it for free. How? Well, because the code to the software is available to the public. This means that there is a number of people who can make improvements on it for free and you will reap the benefits.
